CPI

Tri-County Special Education Association is dedicated to providing high quality professional learning opportunities for cooperative staff and for member district staff members. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training is offered yearly to fulfill the requirements of the Illinois Administrative Code. "Any adult who is supervising a student in isolated time out or time out, or who is involved in a physical restraint, shall receive at least 8 hours of developmentally appropriate training annually." (23 Ill. Adm. Code 1.285(i) (1))

CPI teaches participants to identify the signs of distress in students so crisis situations can be de-escalated efficiently. CPI is based in trauma informed and restorative practices. During training staff learn a common philosophy and framework for the culture of Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security in the schools.
