IAASE funded 14 mini-grants this year to encourage the implementation of innovative practices within the school setting. The projects must make a positive contribution to a classroom, program, or district. Over 90 applications were received this year!
Mrs. Dawn Lanning was inspired to apply for the grant during a professional learning opportunity focusing on play-based assessments of early childhood students. Realizing the importance of capturing all the interactions and data during play based assessment, Dawn hypothesized that the addition of a Swivl Robot could do just that! The Swivl robot can travel with participants or can be mounted on a stand. This technology will not only contribute to better data collection, but will also allow virtual evaluators to be a part of the session. The recording could also be shared with evaluators who cannot attend the session in actual time.
Thank you, IAASE, for this $1200 grant! Thank you, Dawn Lanning, for this great idea that will serve our students!
